Purdue University researchers have built an application-specific integrated circuit chip for early detection of pathogens and viruses.
The technique uses machine learning to train the system to identify and verify the presence of features associated with specific diseases from biomolecular samples, and models have demonstrated that the methodology may effectively detect Covid-19.
Data extracted from the chip includes the type of nucleotides in the case of DNA/RNA, which can be used to classify the molecule.
