Trump Administration Establishes $75-Million Quantum Computing Centers
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the U.S. National Science Foundation have authorized $75 million for the establishment of three quantum computing centers.

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) have established three quantum computing centers, a collective $75-million investment.
The Quantum Leap Challenge Institutes each will receive $25 million to conduct research and development in quantum computing, and help develop a curriculum for students in this field.
The center at the University of California, Berkeley will focus on current and future quantum computing, while the University of Illinois's center will address hybrid quantum architecture and networks.
The third institute, at the University of Colorado, will explore development of quantum sensors to produce more precise measurements across various disciplines.
NSF director Sethuraman Panchanathan said, "Within five years, we are confident these institutes can make tangible advances to help carry us into a true quantum revolution."
