Conservative Unease With Science Is Global, but Extreme in the U.S.
The Pew Research Center has released survey results that present a picture of how people in 20 different countries viewed science and the technologies it enables, before the pandemic struck.

A Pew Research Center survey of about 1,000 people from 20 countries looks at how the public viewed science and technology immediately before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Overall, the survey found widespread trust in scientists and a strong desire to act on their findings in certain areas, but it showed a large partisan divide that is the most extreme in the U.S.
Regarding the expanded use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, most respondents in Asian countries saw levels of support greater than 60%; support in Europe and North America was between 35% and 55%.
The survey also found gender differences in support for AI, automation, and other technologies, with men supporting those technologies more than women.
However, the gap was only about 10 to 15 points for AI, with a larger gap for automation and food technology.
Higher education levels correlated with increased support for these technologies.
