The NExt ApplicationS of Quantum Computing (NEASQC) project hopes to demonstrate practical use cases for the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices that soon will be available.

The project, a multidisciplinary consortium coordinated by Atos and comprised of 12 organizations from eight European countries, will develop quantum software techniques to solve nine NISQ-compatible industrial and financial use-cases with a practical quantum advantage.

Said Atos' Cyril Allouche, "The ultimate ambition of NEASQC is to encourage European user communities to investigate NISQ quantum computing."

Among other objectives, NEASQC plans to develop open source NISQ programming libraries for industrial use cases, build and share knowledge with a strong user community dedicated to industrial NISQ applications, and develop software stacks and benchmarks for the Quantum Technology Flagship.
