While tech workers appear to be fleeing Silicon Valley in an exodus sparked by the pandemic, Seattle—home to tech giants Microsoft and Amazon—has not seen the same outflow.

LinkedIn reports Seattle added 2.2 tech workers for every worker who left from March to October last year, down slightly from 2.5 last year.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco Bay Area saw the largest annual drop in the ratio of 35% from 1.48 to 0.96 tech workers hired for every one who left, followed by New York City's 20% decline from 1.08 to 0.86.

Additional LinkedIn data shows a 28% jump in the number of people moving from the Bay Area to Seattle over the same period.

Cybersecurity firm Tanium recently relocated its headquarters from the Bay Area to Seattle, while Oracle and Hewlett Packard Enterprise are among those relocating from California to Texas.
