An artificial intelligence (AI) system developed by scientists at Canada's University of Victoria (UVic) can ascertain the predicted chemical composition of drugs.
The UVic team used a combination of AI, machine learning (ML), and the Arbutus 2 supercomputer to generate "surface" inferences about drug chemistry,
The analysis-driving AI applies multiple AI and ML paradigms, so the system can formulate both known quantities and novel drug compounds.
The ultimate goal is a system for pharmacists and other medical professionals to quickly and accurately determine the actual constituents of the drugs they prescribe, although the UVic researchers also hope their work will become publicly accessible.
