India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said it is collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop a Quantum Computing Applications Lab.

The government said the new lab will receive input from central and state governments, research institutions, and academia to identify problem statements in quantum computing; invite applications from researchers; and work with subject matter experts.

Quantum computing hardware, simulators, and programming tools will be provided to selected applicants on demand at no cost, via the Amazon Braket quantum computing service.

MeitY's Ajay Sawhney said, "Enabling our scientific community with advanced technologies plays a key role towards scientific advancements and learning."
