Prague Theater to Stage Play Written by AI, on 100th Anniversary of Capek's R.U.R.

Prague's Švanda Theatre plans to stage a play written by artificial intelligence (AI) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Karel Capek's R.U.R. (or Rossum's Universal Robots), which introduced the word "robot" into the English language and the world of science fiction.
The play, titled "AI: When a Robot Writes a Play," will be screened online.
The play actually was created by computer scientists and a computational linguist from Charles University in the Czech Republic and inspired by Czech innovator Tomáš Studeník.
The text of the play was generated using Open AI's open-source language module GPT-2.
Charles University's Rudolf Rosa said, "We fed the module part of a screenplay, containing the names of the characters and their replicas, and it generated the rest of the text. Actually, we were quite surprised by the final result, which only needed minor adjustments."
