Israel Allocates $60 Million to Build First Quantum Computer

Israel is joining the global race to produce some of the world's most advanced technologies, as the nation is looking to build its very first quantum computer.

Israel's Innovation Authority and Defense Ministry have committed $60 million to building the country's first quantum computer.

The Authority's Aviv Zeevi said the agencies are soliciting bids from multinationals, Israeli businesses, and universities.

The U.S. and China are already vying to realize quantum dominance, while Russia, the European Union, Canada, and more recently Israel have entered the competition.

Zeevi said, "We want to be in the game. We need to be at least at a reasonable level to be able to develop" hardware and software associated with quantum computers.
