Rancho Mirage Lands the Country's First 3D-Printed Housing Community
Development group Palari just named Rancho Mirage, CA, the site of the countrys first 3D-printed community.

Developer Palari is planning the first three-dimensional (3D) printed housing community in the U.S. in Rancho Mirage, CA, slated for completion by next spring.
The five-acre community will feature 15 eco-friendly homes comprised of 3D-printed panels from construction technology company Mighty Buildings.
The company developed what it calls "Light Stone Material," a synthetic stone that hardens when exposed to UV light and is printed by robots at the company's Oakland, CA, warehouse.
The automated process uses 95% less manpower than traditional wood-framed construction.
The composite material is stronger, lighter, and more thermally efficient than concrete, and boasts a life span of more than 70 years.
Mighty Buildings' Alexey Dubov said, "It feels like a countertop in a kitchen. Because it's lighter, we reduce costs in transportation."
The homes in Rancho Mirage will come as a kit and will be assembled on site.
