This Powerful Supercomputer Was Built in Just 20 Weeks, With a Bit of Help From a Tiny Robot
Only 20 weeks after it was first announced, the Cambridge-1, the U.K.'s fastest supercomputer, has already entered its first stages of operation.

The Cambridge-1 supercomputer, powered by 80 of Nvidia's DGX A100 systems and designed specifically for machine learning applications, has entered its first stages of operation just 20 weeks after it was first announced.
The U.K.'s fastest supercomputer is sitting in a Kao Data building in Cambridge and, due to Covid-19, was built remotely by California-based Nvidia.
Nvidia engineers used computational fluid dynamics to model the space and determine where to place the servers and computer racks, and a mobile robot enabled them to see inside the building.
To facilitate assembly, Hamilton said they "designed a supercomputer that's modular, and as much as possible, pre-built at the factory."
Cambridge, which boasts 400 petaflops of performance, will be used to solve data-based problems in health care research.
