Artificial intelligence (AI) powered software and platforms will be adopted by more companies as they reopen physical workplaces.

Cushman & Wakefield's Adam Stanley said AI could improve traffic management inside buildings.

Stanley noted that AI increasingly is essential for daily operations and is "no longer just nice to have."

Smart software can be used to support contact tracing, contagion risk alerts, social distancing notifications, and other advanced safety-monitoring tools.

Stanley said fine-tuning AI algorithms with larger pools of employee data could help executives and building managers optimize work schedules and other on-site activity.

The market research firm Gartner Inc. reported that about 60% of global companies are creating hybrid workplace models that call for a mix of in-person and remote work.
