Demand for artificial intelligence experts is surging as the economy opens up and companies expand their use of the technology.

Information technology trade group CompTIA has observed surging demand for artificial intelligence (AI) experts as the economy opens up and companies expand the technology's usage to augment the customer experience.

CompTIA estimated 37,000 AI job postings in the first quarter of 2021, a more than 45% gain over the previous quarter.

Data scientists, machine learning developers, and engineers were among the most sought-after AI professions.

The Covid-19 pandemic has expedited corporate digitalization, with many companies now relying more on AI algorithms to predict demand, make products smarter, enhance customer experience, and strengthen other business functions.

Said Craig Stephenson at management consulting firm Korn Ferry, "For the first time, we're actually seeing that [AI hiring] is equally busy across all of the market sectors."
