Medicine From the Sky in Bengaluru: Trial Run for Drone Delivery Successful
Two different models of drones were tested during the operation as they delivered medicines weighing up to 2 kg (4.4 lbs.) to customers as far away as 7km (4.3 miles).

India's Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that a trial run of beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) drone delivery of medicines was completed successfully in Bengaluru.
Throttle Aerospace Systems and UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) ran the pilot test, under the supervision of India's Director-General of Civil Aviation.
Two drone models, the Medcopter X4 and the Medcopter X8, were tested within a 15km radius at Gauribidanur on the outskirts of Bengaluru to deliver medications to UDAN customers.
Delivery distances ranged from 2 km to 7 km (1.25 to 4.3 miles), and the packages weighed up 2 kg (4.4 lbs.).
The trial showed that the drones could cover an average of 3.5 km (2.2 miles) in five to seven minutes.
It paves the way for the use of BVLOS drones for last-mile delivery of shipments in minimum time and faster deliveries in dense urban settings.
