A model developed by researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Harvard University shows the X chromosome inactivation process, paving the way for new drug treatments for gene-based disorders and diseases.
The four-dimensional model, which shows motion and includes time as the fourth dimension, runs on Los Alamos supercomputers.
Lead researcher Anna Lappala said, "This is the first time we've been able to model all the RNA spreading around the chromosome and shutting it down."
