Robots can climb stairs, and they are doing it everywhere you look. Five to ten years ago such climbing was rare, but today's robots build on the painstakingly accumulated knowledge that is the hallmark of many technological advancements. YouTube videos demonstrate several examples: the stairBot, which has its own Web site; the University of Angers' B2P2 robot; the iRobot Packbot, shown in operation and in military environments; Honda's Asimo, shown successfully climbing and falling down stairs; and Ariel University Center's robot.
