Said Miso Robotics CEO Mike Bell, "White Castle was the first large brand to embrace our technology, and we are thrilled that our Flippy pilot made such a positive impact on their operations that they want to integrate 100 more."

Miso Robotics' Flippy 2 robot fry cook will be deployed in 100 White Castle fast food restaurants, as part of a movement toward automation in the quick-serve industry.

Factors behind the movement include demand for contactless service, a tight labor market, and wage increases.

Miso claims Flippy can ameliorate inefficiencies in the kitchen while guaranteeing consistent quality.

The burger chain tested the original Flippy robot in a Chicago-area outlet in 2020, then launched the Robot-on-a-Rail (ROAR) version at 10 more kitchens.

"Artificial intelligence and automation have been an area White Castle has wanted to experiment with to optimize our operations and provide a better work environment for our team members," said White Castle CEO Lisa Ingram. "We believe technology like Flippy ROAR can improve customer service and kitchen operation."
