The MADDOX self-learning assistance system developed by Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV spin-off Peerox in Germany can analyze machine and process data in order to boost manufacturing efficiency.

MADDOX digitizes employees' practical knowledge to correct failures when workers are unavailable.

The search algorithm employs machine learning algorithms to review machine data, and generates categories consisting of similar data patterns; these are linked to digital knowledge cards, where employees can visually document failures and remedies using text, images, and video.

When mechanical failures occur, the algorithm analyzes the data patterns, seeks similar categories, and displays the relevant knowledge card to users on a tablet.

Features developed with engineering psychologists at the Dresden University of Technology integrate human impulses like helpfulness and appreciation, which encourage MADDOX's frequent use by workers.
