Datacenters Are Facing Climate Crisis
Companies are racing to cool down their servers as fuel prices and temperatures soar.

Recent record temperatures in the U.K. caused London cloud-based datacenters operated by Google and Oracle to go offline due to cooling failures.
With studies predicting more extreme weather in the coming years, datacenters need to be prepared.
However, datacenter cooling systems are experiencing temperatures that exceed the peak outdoor temperatures they were designed to withstand.
Sophia Flucker of the U.K. datacenter consulting firm Operational Intelligence said datacenter design companies increasingly are using projected future temperatures instead of outdated historical weather data.
However, Flucker noted, "That's only as good as how well we can predict the future."
Some suggest that datacenters should shift from air-based to liquid cooling, but that would require knowledge of both cooling and IT equipment.
