Floppydisk.com sells around 500 floppy disks per day.
Tom Persky, who runs the California-based online disk recycling service, said its customers are mainly in the embroidery, tool and die, and airline industry.
The company's warehouse stores the iconic 3.5-inch floppy disks and the even-older 8-inch floppy disks.
Persky said, "Floppy disks are very reliable, very stable, a very well understood way to get information in and out of a machine. Plus, they have the additional feature of not being very hackable."
However, Persky does not expect the business to last another 20 years, noting, "I'll be here for as long as people continue to want to have these disks. But it's not forever."
