Tech Firms Hope Workouts Can Sell Women on VR Headsets

In hopes of expanding the pool of customers, makers of virtual reaalityt headsets have been creating apps for work, fitness, and entertainment.

Major technology companies hope to establish a mainstream market for virtual reality (VR) products by selling work, fitness, and entertainment applications to young women.

Companies like Meta and Apple are teaming with corporations outside gaming and acquiring non-gaming app developers to extend their device brands to wider audiences.

VR-powered fitness apps may entice people who are reluctant or unable to attend traditional exercise classes, according to leading industry evangelists.

VirZoom fitness app creator Eric Janszen said, "The immersive quality of VR is a far better medium for motivating people to exercise than anything you can do on the flat screen."
