As the Justice Department's landmark anti-monopoly case against Google goes to trial on Tuesday, the word "Microsoft" is on people's lips almost as much as "Google."
The specter of the Justice Department's 2001 case against Microsoft looms large as the last such trial against a Silicon Valley giant. Some have gone as far as to say this case "rhymes" with Microsoft.
Both cases center on agreements the companies struck with hardware makers to give default placement for their services. For Microsoft, it was its browser, Internet Explorer. For Google, it is its search engine.
