3D Printer Makes Fast, Affordable Delivery of Post Office
The 3D-printed post office is now open for business in Bengaluru, southwest India.

A new post office in Bengaluru, India, is the first in the world to be built using a three-dimensional (3D) printer.
The 1,021-square-foot building was built in 43 days using the BOD2 3D printer from COBOD.
Construction firm L&T estimated building a similar structure using conventional methods would have taken about eight months (compared to the project's 43-day build time) and cost 40% more.
Following a pre-programmed blueprint, the 3D-printer erected the basic shell of the structure in layers comprised of a cement-like mixture.
The structure's roof, windows, door, wiring, and plumbing were installed by human builders.
