Tesla Recalls 1.6 Million Cars in China to Fix Self-Driving Systems

The recall marks a setback for Tesla as China has emerged as the world’s largest and fastest-growing market for electric cars.

Tesla is recalling nearly all the vehicles it has sold in China to update the computer software.

This follows a similar recall in the U.S. less than a month ago.

China's State Administration for Market Regulation, which announced the recall on Jan. 5, said the mandatory software update will add additional automatic assisted steering control.

Additionally, Tesla will transmit software updates to 7,538 imported Model S and Model X electric cars to fix a door latch issue.
