New Error Correction Trick could Make Quantum Computers 200 Times Smaller

Researchers have been working on reducing the number of physical qubits required to generate error-free logical qubits.

A new error correction approach deployed by researchers at the French National Research Laboratory INRIA and US-based hardware developer Alice & Bob can bring quantum computing closer to deployment, a press release said. The researchers claim to have built 100 reliable logical qubits with as little as 1,500 physical qubits.
