AI Is Decoding the Animal Kingdom

Researchers increasingly are looking to generative AI to better understand animal languages.

However, translating animal languages poses a challenge due to overlapping voices in many recordings of animal social interactions and the lack of sufficient data on animal communications for comprehensive training of a generative AI tool.

Yossi Yovel at Israel's University of Tel Aviv cited limitations in both human perception and animal verbal communication, as well as the bias of human interpretation.
