At a time when the world is deliberating upon ways to cut carbon emissions, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has unveiled software especially developed for an Indian university environment to help reduce carbon footprint in labs. 'COLAMA,' a virtual lab management software, will also enable students to work in a virus-free environment in their college labs.

The software was unveiled by TIFR as part of three-day Homi Bhabha centenary celebrations which concluded last weekend.

The product has been developed by a Pune-based private firm, Coriolis Technologies, in collaboration with the School of Technology and Computer Science at TIFR. "COLAMA helps to significantly reduce the carbon foot print of the university and college computer labs," Basant Rajan, Director and CEO of Coriolis said after the demonstration.
