Google Scholarship Program Kicks Off in China
Google hosted more than 130 Google Scholarship recipients at its Beijing office earlier this month. The undergraduate and graduate students in computer science and software engineering from more than 20 universities across China were the recipients of the Google Excellence Scholarship and the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship—the company's first scholarships in China.
The Google Excellence Scholarship aims to award the outstanding undergraduates and master degree students from the computer science and software engineering disciplines. The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship supports outstanding female students in computer science.
Google has been collaborating with Chinese universities through a variety of programs—ranging from curriculum development, donations, to the scholarship program—to support the education of talented students in China. It will extend into other university collaboration programs in the future.
