Digital Connectivity Should Become as Much a Right as Access to School

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for greater academic autonomy, a focus on research, and said India needs to nurture future generations of scientists. Modi spoke at the inaugural function of the 102nd Indian Science Congress at Mumbai University.

The need for a sustainable and prosperous country is to make science and technology the top national priority, Modi said.

"Digital connectivity should become as much a basic right as access to school," he said, adding that India needs to fund more research.
