In his inaugural keynote at AWS re:Invent 2021 as AWS CEO, Adam Selipsky talked up new Graviton3 chips, private 5G networks, some database and data lake functional improvements, and a few other things. But arguably the most exciting thing of all was also the most boring: mainframes.
It's perhaps one of the clearest signals yet that AWS realizes that it's not going to take the world into the cloudy future without first helping enterprises come to terms with their legacy pasts.
