U.S. Needs New 'Manhattan Project' to Avoid Cyber Catastrophe
The U.S. is vulnerable to rapidly expanding cyber threats from Russia and a host of other adversaries.

While the U.S. has maintained its primacy in conventional warfare capabilities, cyberspace has offered aspiring competitors, smaller authoritarian regimes, and non-state actors an opportunity to level the playing field.
Much like the WWII-era Manhattan Project, which ensured the U.S. won the race to nuclear weapons, we should confront our current, dangerous moment by launching a "Cyber Manhattan Project" to make revolutionary leaps ahead in cyberspace, understanding that complete technical overmatch against our adversaries is the surest path to deterring bad actors.
