Why Conscious AI Is a Bad Idea

Like the technology itself, attitudes toward artificial intelligence (AI) are at an inflection point. Time is short to develop a rational and fit-for-purpose framework to ensure that the enormous potential of AI is used for the benefit of humanity and the planet.

The implications of either true or apparent artificial consciousness must be part of the conversation. We need to bring to the forefront of our collective awareness the importance of understanding awareness itself.
