CS Leader at ­niversity of Texas at Dallas Plans to Continue School's Growth

It's no secret that the University of Texas at Dallas' Erik Jonsson School of Engineering & Computer Science wants to become a top-ranked research school. The computer science department has tripled in size in the past decade to about 50 faculty and nearly 1,400 students.

Gopal Gupta, who became head of the department in August, plans to continue that growth. His lofty ambitions include turning the region into Texas' Silicon Valley by enhancing student training, attracting more funding and spurring entrepreneurial activity.

Gupta talks about his plans in this interview.
