Turing Award-winner Yann LeCun is the vice president and chief AI scientist at Facebook and the Silver Professor at New York University.
Yann LeCun famously pioneered the use of convolutional neural nets for image processing in the 1980s and 1990s and is generally regarded as one of the people whose work was pivotal to the deep-learning revolution in AI. He received the 2018 ACM Turing Award (along with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio) for "conceptual and engineering breakthroughs that have made deep neural networks a critical component of computing."
In an interview, LeCun talks about his early days in AI research and recent developments in self-supervised learning for computer vision.
