Upol Ehsan combines his backgrounds in philosophy and human-computer interaction  to address problems in Explainable AI (XAI) that go beyond simply opening the "black-box" of AI.

In an interview, Ehsan discusses topics such as human-centered explainable AI, moving toward social transparency in AI systems, how AI background shapes perceptions of AI explanation, explainability pitfalls, and more.
